Spontaneous Affinity: Year 3 Zine

from Spontaneous Affinity

Book/Magazine

This is a **pre-order** for the Spontaneous Affinity Year 3 zine! For this round of zines, I will only be accepting pre-orders online until January 30, 2022; after that there will be no way to order these online. Orders will be sent to print in early February 2022, and will ship by the end of February. This pre-order-only model funds printing and allows me to ship all of the zines as one batch. There will also be opportunities to purchase in-person in the NYC area.

Edition of 220.

Spontaneous Affinity is an oral history/informal archive project for the DJs, producers, and organizers keeping underground dance and electronic music alive in a tenuous creative economy. As a result of “these strange times” and a new, more fluid online publishing schedule, this “year 3” zine is coming to you after Spontaneous Affinity just technically turned 4 years old, and includes 16 interviews (unlike the first two annual zines, which included 12 interviews each). It's our longest zine yet, at over 120 pages. It also features responses to a small survey I conducted on the state of the dance music community, and a couple new written and visual contributions from friends.

As with the last issue, all proceeds from this zine will be donated to Critical Resistance, “a member-led and member-run grassroots movement to challenge the use of punishment to “cure” complicated social problems.” Their work on transformative justice and community accountability has been a go-to resource for me, and with the last zine we were able to donate $624 to support their efforts. If you pay more than the baseline price, that $ will be donated.

For international shipping, I will reach out to refund you any amount above what I actually end up paying for shipping or I will donate that $ if I don't hear from you.

Thanks as always for your support <33
